Adrian Peterson Open To Returning To Vikings, But Would Consider Trade Options

Adrian Peterson‘s dad, Nelson Peterson, tells Chris Tomasson that his son remains open to returning to Vikings next year, but also said that depending on what options are available, he’ll consider all options.

This comes after the news that Peterson’s case will head back to Judge Harold Henderson and return to the CBA process.

“The Vikings hold that card,” Nelson Peterson said, per Tomasson. “… Are they going to pay Adrian the money he is due?

Nelson Peterson reiterated that his son has not requested a trade, but added that if a blockbuster deal were to come about they would have to consider it.

“If a blockbuster deal opens and a team wants to give them something they’re going to have to look at it,’’ Peterson, per Tomasson.

Interestingly enough, Peterson’s father said that if the Vikings were to trade his son, he’s heard that the Cardinals, Colts and Cowboys could be interested.

“There’s nothing etched in stone he won’t return to the Vikings (but) things have to work out,” Peterson’s dad added, per Tomasson.

Peterson, 29, still has another three years remaining on his seven-year, $96 million contract that included $36 million guaranteed. Over the next three years, Peterson stands to make base salaries of $12.75 million (2015), $14.75 million (2016), and $16.75 million (2017).

As for his cap figures, the Vikings are looking at $15.4 million (2015), $15 million (2016), and $17 million (2017).

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Peterson would free up $13 million in available cap space and create $2.4 million dead money.

Peterson appeared in just one game for the Vikings and ran for 75 yards on 21 carries (3.6 YPC) while adding two receptions for 18 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding the Vikings and Peterson as the news is available.
