Adrian Peterson Reporting To Vikings’ OTAs Tuesday

Josina Anderson of ESPN first reported that Adrian Peterson is in Minnesota and is planning to attend OTAs starting on Tuesday.

“I decided to come back just to get around my teammates and the coaching staff,” Peterson told Anderson. “There’s never been any love lost with those guys. Basically it’s time for me to come in and test the waters and re-familiarize myself with our offense and the direction they’re trying to go in.”

  • Ian Rapoport reports that no concessions were made by the Vikings to get Peterson to report to OTAs.

Peterson was hoping to get the Vikings to include some more guaranteed money in his contract, but it looks like he plans to take a different route in convincing Minnesota to consider the idea.

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer offered some direct comments about Peterson’s holdout last week, saying “He’s really got two choices: He can play for us. Or he can not play.

A few days later, Peterson went on a long Twitter tangent about “securing his future,” but in the end he elected to report to offseason workouts.

Peterson, 30, still has another three years remaining on his seven-year, $96 million contract that included $36 million guaranteed. Over the next three years, Peterson stands to make base salaries of $12.75 million (2015), $14.75 million (2016), and $16.75 million (2017).

As for his cap figures, the Vikings are looking at $15.4 million (2015), $15 million (2016), and $17 million (2017).

Peterson appeared in just one game for the Vikings and ran for 75 yards on 21 carries (3.6 YPC) while adding two receptions for 18 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
