Adrian Peterson Says Playing For Texans Would Be “Dream Scenario”

Veteran RB Adrian Peterson, who is reportedly being released by the Cardinals this week, tells TMZ that his “dream scenario” was to sign with the Texans.

“Obviously, being back home would be awesome,” Peterson said. “Houston has always been a team I’ve thought about.

“Being back here at home where I work out every day. My family is here. My family is close. My mom is here. Being around her a little more during this time [in my life] would be even more a cherry on top.”

The Texans already have two decent running backs in place, and Peterson admits that it’s a long shot, but he has made it clear over the years that he would like to be in Texans and continue his career.

Peterson has said previously that he would like four more years in the NFL.

At the end of the day, I know I can play. If you watch football, as far as being an evaluator of talent, if a guy has something left in the tank… he was able to see (I) can still play the game,” Peterson said, per Chris Tomasson. “I would want to play maybe four more years, four to five more years.’’

Peterson, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2007. After 10 seasons in Minnesota, Peterson signed a two-year, $7 million contract with the Saints and stands to make base salaries of $1 million and $1.05 million over the next two years.

The Saints elected to trade Peterson to the Cardinals before this year’s deadline after things didn’t go as expected in New Orleans. The Saints will receive a 2018 sixth-round pick from the Cardinals for Peterson.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Peterson will free up $2,881,250 of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2017, Peterson appeared in 10 games for the Saints and Cardinals and rushed for 529 yards on 156 carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with 11 receptions for 70 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.
