Vikings Place Adrian Peterson On The Active/PUP List

Vikings placed RBĀ Adrian Peterson on the active/PUP list.

Peterson will be able to come off the list at anytime, so this isn’t exactly a huge deal. Toby Gerhart has been working with the first-team offense so far.

ESPN 1500 Twin Cities‘ Tom Pelissero writes thatĀ the “smart money”Ā is on Adrian Peterson to be activated from the camp/PUP listĀ after the first exhibition game on Aug. 10 at San Francisco.

PelisseroĀ thinks Peterson willĀ play some role in the Sept. 9 openerĀ against the Jaguars, but he believesĀ Toby Gerhart willĀ shoulder a heavier load until Peterson’s back to his Pro Bowl form, which could take all season.

Gerhart is not necessarily a make-you-miss guy. He plays strong, tough and rugged and can be a downhill, between-the-tackles type of player.Ā If the Vikings don’t have Peterson, they will miss the lateral running game, the stretch plays to the perimeter, the speed presence out on the edges. Although they’ll still also have some inside strength and some inside power to run between the tackles.
