Adrian Peterson’s Visit With Patriots End Without Deal

Field Yates of ESPN reports that free agent RB Adrian Peterson’s visit with the Patriots concluded on Monday without an agreement on a contract.

According to Yates, it’s possible that the two parties could revisit a potential deal at a later point.

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, considering that a number of reporters have questioned the Patriots’ level of interest and overall motivation for meeting with Peterson.

Sirius XM NFL Radio is reported earlier in the day that there are three to five teams currently interested in Peterson. According to the report, Peterson has neither set an asking price nor turned down an offer from any team up to this point.

The Packers, Raiders, Lions, Giants and Buccaneers have also come up at different points in the offseason as potential landing spots for Peterson

Peterson, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2007. He was entering the final year of his three-year, $44 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $11.75 million to go along with a $6 million roster bonus due on March 11.

Peterson is testing the open market for the first time in his career.

In 2016, Peterson has rushed for 72 yards on 37 carries (1.9 YPC) to go along with three receptions for eight yards receiving and no touchdowns over the course of three games.
