AFC East Notes: Dolphins, Jets, Patriots

Dolphins

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill says that his season-ending ACL tear was still a good learning experience for him.

I got to gain a different perspective last year that I wanted to gain,” Tannehill said, via NFL.com. “There was a lot of beneficial things that I learned throughout the year. Just being able to take a step back and really just watch and observe how guys prepare, how we install, how I can better help guys throughout the year. So I learned a lot.”

According to Tannehill, his surgically repaired knee “feels really good.”

“I’m feeling good,” Tannehill said. “I think it’s a progression, day in and day out, just trying to get better each and every day. But physically I feel really good. I feel fresh. The knee feels really good, I’m able to move around just like I would have before the injury. So I’m confident moving forward that we can just keep getting better.

Jets

Jets DL Leonard Williams says he isn’t worried about securing a long-term extension at this point.

“The contract’s going to come,” Williams said, via the New York Post. “There’s no pressure for it. I’m not like thirsty for it or anything like that. I just want to keep working hard and keep focusing on year by year and just making myself the best possible and helping my team be the best possible, and the money will come.”

Patriots

Patriots QB Tom Brady was in attendance for the start of mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, as expected.

  • Regarding his relationship with Brady, Patriots HC Bill Belichick said: “I’ve always had a good relationship with Tom.
  • Patriots WR Kenny Britt pulled a hamstring that could limit him for the rest of minicamp, but it isn’t viewed as anything overly serious issue. (Mike Reiss)
  • It’s worth mentioning that Britt did not practice on Wednesday.
