AFC East Notes: Dolphins, Jets, Patriots

Dolphins

Dolphins HC Adam Gase said Thursday that WR DeVante Parker (finger) is “itching to play” this weekend.

“He seems fine,” Gase said, via ESPN.com. “He’s itching to play. We went through today, got him involved in team reps. Now, it’s just me going to ask Kyle [Johnston, Dolphins head trainer] what the reaction was. He hasn’t complained about anything. He’s been aggressive to get out there and catch as many balls as possible. Running wise, he’s good. He’s good.”

Jets

Jets CEO Christopher Johnson says there’s no playoff mandate for HC Todd Bowles this year in order for him to keep his job.

“We were a team to be reckoned with last year,” Johnson said, via Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. “I think we will be this year, too. Maybe more so.

“Time will tell. “I think this looks like a good team, I really do. Maybe expectations should ramp up [next year]. For right now, I think this team is advancing. I’m happy with what I see so far.”

Patriots

  • Zack Cox of NESN writes there is a “chance” the Patriots promote RB Kenneth Farrow from their practice squad for Week 2 given that RB Jeremy Hill suffered a season-ending torn ACL, rookie RB Sony Michel is dealing with a knee injury, and Rex Burkhead missed Wednesday’s practice due to a concussion.
  • On Thursday, Burkhead and Michel both put in limited practices.
