AFC East Notes: Teddy Bridgewater, Bills, Jets, Patriots

Teddy Bridgewater

  • Albert Breer writes that it’s hard to imagine a team trading any more than a mid-round pick for Jets QB Teddy Bridgewater, who is playing on a one-year deal and probably wouldn’t re-sign with a team unless he was promised an opportunity to start in 2019.
  • Breer admits a notable injury like the one Bridgewater suffered a few years ago could change the circumstance.
  • According to one report, at least two teams have expressed interest in trading for Bridgewater. (NFLTR)

Bills

Bills HC Sean McDermott announced that rookie QB Josh Allen will be working with the first-team offense on Monday.

(Josh) will be working with the ones and Nate will be working with the twos today,” said McDermott. “We’re staying with the rotation. Nate had the reps with the ones yesterday. Josh will have them today. After today we’ll start to move into a blend into a normal week as we prepare for the next game. Part of that is so our players can get acclimated to the routine of a normal regular season week.

Depending on A.J. McCarron‘s shoulder injury, McDermott admitted that they could add another quarterback.

“Brandon [Beane] and I have spoken about it,” McDermott said. “He’s always looking at our situation and what we may need to do, not only in the long term, but in the short term in this case so we’ll see.”

Jets

Jets GM Mike Maccagnan mentioned during an interview with WFAN on Monday that they’re open to keeping all of their quarterbacks or moving forward with just, which implies that they’re willing to trade Teddy Bridgewater.

“There’s nothing to stop us from keeping three [quarterbacks], and there’s nothing to stop us from keeping two,” Maccagnan said, via ESPN.com.

Patriots

Patriots WR Kenny Britt, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, admits that he’s fallen behind a bit this summer.

“I definitely feel like I’m behind because I’m not out there with the guys getting the chemistry that I need with the quarterbacks and just with everybody on the same page with what we do,” Britt said, via the Providence Journal.
