AFC North Notes: Bengals, Browns, Ravens

Bengals

Josina Anderson reports that Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) has a “good chance” of playing in Sunday’s game against the Browns, barring any setbacks.

Although Green was held out of Wednesday’s practice, Bengals HC Marvin Lewis confirmed the receiver will return “later this week.

A.J. has worked hard. He’s ready to get back to work and hopefully we’ll get work in the rest of this week. We’re going to hold him today so everybody can relax. … You don’t need to be on A.J. Green watch, I’ll give you the scoop there,” said Lewis, via Katherine Terrell.

Lewis said third-round LB Preston Brown was “never able to completely recover” from an ankle injury he sustained in Week 1 and will have to get the issue addressed “at some point.”

He’s such a good young man & a good young player. The ankle injury that he had in Week 1, he was just never able to completely recover,” said Lewis, via Terrell. “At some point he’ll get that addressed. The knee … was going to take a while”

Browns

  • Browns interim HC Gregg Williams said he turned down “several” job opportunities to join Cleveland because of his “respect” for former HC Hue Jackson. (Katherine Terrell)
  • The Browns worked out WR Max McCaffrey. (NFLTR)

Ravens

Ravens WR Michael Crabtree said there is no special meaning behind playing the Raiders in Week 12, which is his former team from 2017.

Next game, you know. No. I’m playing football,” said Crabtree, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN.

  • Jeff Zrebiec writes that while there hasn’t been a definitive timetable for Ravens QB Joe Flacco to return from his hip injury, the expectation all along has been that he’ll end up missing “multiple weeks.”
