AFC North Notes: Bengals, Browns, Ravens

Bengals

  • Bengals WR A.J. Green announced via his Instagram account that he’s no longer sporting a walking boot for his toe injury: “First day working out. Got the boot off, starting my morning off right.

Browns

  • Jason La Canfora reports that the Browns signed RB Kareem Hunt to a
one-year contract for the veteran minimum that includes no guaranteed money.
  • If Hunt reaches the roster and workout bonus requirements, the Browns would top out at over $1 million.
  • Hunt is in line to be a restricted free agent in 2020.

Ravens

  • Jeff Zrebiec of the Athletic writes that Ravens RB Alex Collins is “hardly a lock” to receive even a low-round restricted tender this offseason.
  • While Zrebiec expects the Ravens to add one or two running backs this offseason, he says that unless Le’Veon Bell‘s market drops well below his reported asking price, it’s unlikely he’ll end up in Baltimore.
  • Zrebiec anticipates ILB C.J. Mosley securing a similar contract to the five-year, $62 million deal signed by Panthers ILB Luke Kuechly back in 2015. Zrebiec adds that Baltimore has prioritized re-signing Mosley and have their franchise tag if need be.
  • Should the Ravens release CB Jimmy Smith, Zrebiec believes he would have a decent market, which could mean he could decline to accept a pay cut to be back with the team for the 2019 season.
  • According to Zrebiec, the latest buzz about OLB Za’Darius Smith is that he should end up having a strong market and ultimately secure a huge contract this offseason.
