AFC North Notes: Browns, Ravens, Steelers

Browns

  • Browns interim HC Gregg Williams said of keeping the job next year: “I don’t think it’s fair to the players or anybody here. We’ll talk about that at the end.” (Mary Kay Cabot)
  • Williams mentioned that CB Denzel Ward is still in concussion protocol but is moving in a positive fashion. (Nate Ulrich)

Ravens

  • Joe Flacco said of being relegated to the team’s backup role: “It’s different, but it’s a good team win, and it’s always exciting to be on the sideline like today.” (Richmond.com)

Steelers

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin gave K Chris Boswell a vote of confidence after missing another field goal during their win over the Patriots.

“He’s our kicker from start to finish and I liked the way he came back and banged that next opportunity, and that is what this thing [football] is about,” Tomlin said, via ESPN.com. “You are going to be tested, we are going to be tested, sometimes you are going to fail but you better pass enough of them.

“I made that decision when I walked into the stadium with him that he was our kicker and I wasn’t going to play that second-guessing game today,” Tomlin added. “We evaluated that process in a very thorough manner. Prior to going into the stadium we had a great deal of comfort with the route that we chose to take.”
