Ravens

Ravens new GM Eric DeCosta said during an interview with BaltimoreRavens.com that Ozzie Newsome would have drafted FSU S Derwin James had they stayed at No. 16 overall.

“I thought Derwin James was one of the best players in the draft but … the value of this draft was really the third, fourth, fifth round,” DeCosta said, via NFL.com. “So for us to go back and get additional picks made a lot of sense. As hard as it was moving away from Derwin James, we felt like it was the right thing to do for this club.”

DeCosta said that Newsome will now transition to a rule that will make him “the highest-paid scout in America.”

“It’s not Ozzie’s last draft. Let’s put that to rest,” DeCosta said. “But the dynamic is changing. It will change next year.”

Steelers

  • According to Jeremy Fowler, two Steelers free agents who could return to the team at some point between now and training camp are WR Eli Rogers and LB Arthur Moats.
  • Fowler reports that Steelers S Sean Davis is anticipating a potential move to free safety for the 2018 season
