AFC Note: Bengals, Browns, Colts

Bengals

  • Tom Pelissero reports that former Falcons DC Marquand Manuel, Texas A&M DC Mike Elko, Florida DC Todd Grantham, Saints DB coach Aaron Glenn and Rams DB coach Aubrey Pleasant have all been linked to the Bengals for defensive coordinator or other defensive coaching jobs. 
  • On Thursday, the Bengals announced that they’ve hired Jim Turner as OL coach, James Casey as TEs coach and Ben Martin as assistant OL coach.
  • Cincinnati also hired Chip Morton as strength and conditioning coach and has moved on from assistant strength and conditioning coach Jeff Friday. (Katherine Terrell)
  • Albert Breer expects teams to call the Bengals about a potential trade for WR A.J. Green, given that the free agent market is lacking at the position. 

Browns

  • Browns DC Steve Wilks said he may try to convince Julius Peppers to come to training camp to work with Myles Garrett and other Browns players. (Mary Kay Cabot)
  • Wilks also mentioned that having Baker Mayfield in place as the team’s starting quarterback made the job attractive to him: “You can’t win in this league without a quarterback. And we have a quarterback. He’s an alpha male and affects whole team.” (Pro Football Talk)

Colts

  • The Indianapolis Colts announced Thursday that they’ve hired Howard Mudd as a senior offensive assistant and Klayton Adams as our assistant OL
  • The Colts also promoted Marcus Brady to QBs coach.
