NFL Notes: Michael Floyd, Jets, Titans

Michael Floyd

A source with knowledge of the situation tells Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that Vikings WR Michael Floyd getting just one day in jail (NFLTR) after his failed alcohol tests is a “huge win” for him, considering that the judge in this case had broad discretion and could have forced him to spend the full 96 day sentence in Jail.

It’s also possible the judge could have required Floyd to restart his house arrest sentence and do so in Arizona.

In the end, Floyd will be available for the start of Vikings’ camp and the preseason.

Tom Pelissero says that Floyd has done “everything right” since joining the Vikings and they’re still hopeful for a “high reward” from taking a chance on Floyd.

Jets

Jets CB Juston Burris says he plans to enter training camp with the mindset that the job is his to take this year.

Last year they gave me that opportunity, and I didn’t completely do what I needed to do to do that, so now this year I am coming in with the mindset that this is my job to take,” Burris told the Jets’ website.

Titans

Titans veteran WR Harry Douglas has been very impressed with rookie receivers Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor.

“Those two are special, man,” Douglas said, via TitansOnline.com. “I love their work ethic. I love how they play the game of football, and they are going to do big things for this football team.

“I can tell already they are going to be special. They listen, they go hard, and they both make plays. So it is good when you have young guys who can come in and do those things.”
