AFC Notes: Bengals, Jaguars, Raiders, Titans

Bengals

  • Adam Rittenberg reports that Bengals defensive line coach Jacob Burney is being retained has signed a two-year contract extension to remain on Marvin Lewis‘ staff.

Jaguars

Jaguars HC Doug Marrone admitted after Sunday’s win over the Bills that he would be a “fool” to not say he’s concerned about the team’s offense right now.

“We never really got into a rhythm and weren’t able to get anything on third down,” Marrone said, via ESPN.com. “I’d be a fool to sit here and say I’m not concerned, but I’m going to take a step back and go ahead and look at it again. Obviously, if you want to continue to keep playing, you’re going to have to do a better job.

Raiders

Greg Papa, the long time radio play-by-play guy for the Raiders, mentioned during an appearance on 95.7 The Game that the Raiders’ coaching staff “turned on” QB Derek Carr after he threw two interceptions in their 26-15 loss to the Chiefs.

“This coaching staff turned on Derek Carr,” Papa said, via CBS Sports. “After the Kansas City game they called him out in front of a whole team meeting. It wasn’t just the offense or the quarterbacks, (or) a segment of the team. It was the whole team. And they ripped him in front of everybody and Derek’s a prideful guy.”

  • According to John Sutcliffe of ESPN.com, the Raiders will travel to the United Kingdom and play a home game in 2018 in London and could return to Mexico in 2019.
  • Matt Miller wonders if Jon Gruden could target Packers executive Eliot Wolf as the young personnel executive to add to their front office.
  • It’s worth mentioning that Wolf worked with current Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie while in Green Bay and it was actually his father, Ron Wolf, who led the GM research that resulted in McKenzie getting the job.

Titans

Titans HC Mike Mularkey said Sunday that he isn’t ruling out RB DeMarco Murray for their upcoming matchup against the Patriots, even though he’s dealing with a knee injury that kept him out against the Chiefs.

“For him to miss anything, something’s got to be hurt,” Mularkey said, via Cameron Wolfe of ESPN. “I’m definitely not going to rule him out. He’s day-to-day.
