AFC Notes: Bengals, Browns, Jets, Ravens

Bengals

Bengals HC Marvin Lewis was asked by reporters on Monday if wanted to coach again next year.

“I want to coach football,” Lewis said, per Katherine Terrell of ESPN.

Lewis was then asked if he wanted to still be coaching in Cincinnati in 2018.

“Sure. Are you making an offer today?” Lewis joked.

“It’s not the pertinent thing right now,” Lewis said. “The pertinent thing right now is to coach a football team. That’s what my job is and that’s what I’m supposed to do. … it will be addressed when we address it.

Browns

  • Browns HC Hue Jackson announced that DeShone Kizer will remain the team’s starting quarterback in Week 16, despite Jackson leaving the door open for a possible change after Sunday’s game: “It’s the best decision for our football team. Hoping pendulum goes back to good performance after bad one.” (Scott Petrak)
  • Jackson mentioned that SS Derrick Kindred could miss time with a wrist injury. (Scott Petrak)

Jets

  • Jets HC Todd Bowles said Monday that they’re “still working through some things” with DL Muhammad Wilkerson.
  • However, Bowles wouldn’t say if Wilkerson will play in Week 16’s game after he left behind this past weekend: “It’s an internal thing, that’s all I’m going to say about it.” (Andy Vasquez)
  • Bowles reiterated Bryce Petty will remain the team’s starting quarterback and they won’t consider playing Christian Hackenberg right now. (Eric Allen)
  • According to Bowles, DL Leonard Williams has a concussion and is in the NFL’s protocol.

Ravens

  • Ravens HC John Harbaugh said Monday that WR Jeremy Maclin and DT Carl Davis are not believed to have season-ending injuries and they could return as early as this week.
