AFC Notes: Bills, Broncos, Dolphins

Bills

Bills GM Brandon Beane admits that they still have a lot of work to do across the board to get the team where it needs to be.

“We have work to do and we know it,” Beane wrote, via the Buffalo News. “Although we were very encouraged by our development and growth this year, we certainly have areas of need in all three phases.

Broncos

  • Mike Klis of 9 News reports that the Broncos are expected to hire Chris Beake as a defensive assistant.

Dolphins

Citing multiple sources inside the building, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins are fascinated by the quarterbacks potentially available at the top of the 2020 draft.  But that doesn’t mean they won’t also take a passer this year.

“We haven’t gone through the process of getting to learn the guys yet,” GM Chris Grier said via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “There are a lot of good prospects we spent some time with at the Senior Bowl [such as Duke’s Daniel Jones, Missouri’s Drew Lock and West Virginia’s Will Grier] and other quarterbacks that weren’t there that people were talking about as well. We may get through the process and fall in love with a couple guys. Last year, we liked two guys a lot and they both had good success this year. It could be that point where we may say, “Hey, we feel this is the guy.’”

Grier had positive things to say about QB Jake Rudock, who could be one of only two QBs remaining on the team if Miami ends up moving on from QB Ryan Tannehill

“The thing we had liked and the previous staff as well is he’s smart,” Grier said.  “Big kid, can throw the ball, been in a similar offense. Before he signed, he asked what we’re going to do. I said I can’t tell you … because I don’t know what we’re doing. Someone we took a chance on. Great kid.”
