AFC Notes: Bills, Dolphins, Raiders & David Amerson

Bills

Bills WR Sammy Watkins said he isn’t sure how much he’s doing to do on the practice field, he’s “right where [he] needs to be” in regards to his recovery from offseason foot surgery.

“I don’t know how much I’m gonna be doing or when I’m gonna be on the field, but I’m definitely going to be active and engaged,” Watkins said Tuesday, via Mike Rodak of ESPN. “I don’t know what the schedule is like with me being on the field competing-wise, but I’m right where I need to be at — feeling good, healthy. Nothing is bothering me. Just really prepare for whatever they do.

“I don’t know what the situation is, but if they throw me out there, I just want to be prepared if they do. That’s all I can do is prepare for it.”

Dolphins

• Jason Cole of B/R spoke with an NFL GM who wondered why veteran RB Arian Foster would sign with the Dolphins, considering that he’s been injured the last two times he played in Miami.
• Cole mentions that the heat and humidity from playing in Miami will be much more of a factor than it was in Houston.

Raiders

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a per a source with knowledge of the contract, reports that David Amerson‘s new five-year extension includes $5.5 million at signing, with rolling injury-only guarantees of $12 million.

Here’s the contract breakdown, according to Florio:

• 2016: $1 million salary (fully guaranteed), $3 million roster bonus (fully guaranteed), $500,000 workout bonus, $500,000 in Pro Bowl escalators
• 2017: $6.5 million salary (guaranteed for injury, becomes fully guaranteed on third day of 2017 league year), $1.5 million roster bonus (fully guaranteed), $500,000 workout bonus, $500,000 in Pro Bowl escalators
• 2018: $5.5 million salary (guaranteed for injury, becomes fully guaranteed on third day of 2018 league year), $500,000 workout bonus, $500,000 in Pro Bowl escalators
• 2019: $7 million salary, $500,000 workout bonus, $500,000 in Pro Bowl escalators
• 2020: $7.38 million salary, $500,000 workout bonus, $500,000 in Pro Bowl escalators
