AFC Notes: Bills, Jaguars, Patriots

Bills

Following Sunday’s blowout loss to the Ravens, Bills HC Sean McDermott says it’s too early to say whether Josh Allen or Nathan Peterman will start for them in Week 2.

“I will look at everything. It’s too early to go one way or the other,” McDermott said.

For the game, Peterman completed 5 of 18 pass attempts for 24 yards and two interceptions while Allen completed 6-of-15 passes for 74 yards.

Jaguars

  • Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette tells Josina Anderson following Sunday’s game that he feels he can play in Week 2, despite the hamstring injury he sustained.
  • Fournette repeatedly said that he feels his hamstring is “good” and that he felt he could’ve come back in the game.
  • The decision to keep him out was because “they were being cautious.

Patriots

Former Patriots P Corey Bojorquez, who was recently claimed off of waivers by the Bills, seemed to support the theory that New England didn’t allow him to punt during the preseason and an attempt to get him through waivers and onto their practice squad.

“The Patriots told me they had a plan they were executing, and I said, ‘All right, I’m not going to be worried about it,’ and just focused on my punting and tried to be the best I could every day so that when my name was called, I’d be ready,” Bojorquez said, via The Athletic.

  • According to Mike Reiss, the Patriots agreed to pay OT Eric Smith $20,000 per week instead of the standard $7,600 per week to be on their practice squad.
