AFC Notes: Bills, Jaguars, Patriots, & Ravens

Bills

Bills Hall of Fame QB Jim Kelly mentioned that HC Rex Ryan could be out in Buffalo if the team fails to make the playoffs in 2016.

I think we need to do it. I think we have to do it,” Kelly said, via during an appearance on the Jim Rome Show, via Joe Buscaglia of WKBW. “If we don’t, I think Rex is probably looking for another job, too. I think everybody knows that, including Rex.

“We’ve got a heck of a football team, but you can’t win if you’re not on the football field competing and playing,” Kelly said. “I just hope we stay healthy, because if we do, and we don’t make it, there’s no excuses whatsoever.”

Jaguars

  • Jaguars first-round CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) was able to do some running at OTAs on Friday, despite recently suffering a torn meniscus.

Patriots

  • The Patriots waived TE Michael Williams with the injury designation. (NFLTR)
  • Ben Volin points out that Williams’ injury was costly in more ways than one, considering that his salary is cut from $525k to $348k.

Ravens

Free agent WR Wes Welker was a guest coach at Ravens’ OTAs the past few days.

“It was an opportunity for him to get his feet wet,” said HC John Harbaugh, who reached out to Welker to set up the short trial, via BaltimoreRavens.com. “He obviously brings a lot to the table and can help our guys. He has a lot of insight with all his success and his style.

Welker previously stopped by Dolphins’ practice to provide some instruction, so he’s staying busy while contemplating his future.
