AFC Notes: Bills, Jets, Steelers

Bills

NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger considers the Bills to be the best fit for free agent WR Anquan Boldin.

“I believe that Anquan Boldin is gonna get signed,” said Baldinger, via NYup.com. “Everybody knows what kind of professional he is, he’s been the [Walter Payton] Man of the Year. I just think a team right now that really is in desperate need of wide receivers is the Buffalo Bills… I mean you got Zay Jones who’s a rookie, we’ve seen where Sammy Watkins has struggled to stay healthy. Andre Holmes comes from Oakland. I just think he’d be a great signing in Buffalo.”

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.

Jets

  • Darryl Slater of NJ.com takes a look at the Jets’ options to replace long-time ILB David Harris.
Slater considers Demario Davis to be the leading candidate to take over for Harris right now.
  • According to Slater, former first-round LB Darron Lee is not in the mix to take over for Harris because the team likes him at weakside linebacker.
  • One free agent option next year suggested by Slater is Kevin Minter, who signed a one-year contract with the Bengals.

Steelers

Steelers free agent addition CB Coty Sensabaugh says he’s “really familiar” with the Steelers’ defensive scheme after working with Dick LeBeau the past few years in Tennessee.

“I’ve been really familiar with this defense,” the veteran cornerback said, via Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “The terminology might be a little bit different, but for the most part it is the same thing I played in for a few years. So it’s just going back to those days and just re-plugging in.”

Sensabaugh added that he still doesn’t know where he’ll line up for Pittsburgh and understands he’ll have to prove himself this summer.

“I don’t know what they’re going to have me at. I played outside and inside, so we will see,” Sensabaugh said. “At the end of the day, just to make it into these (NFL position) rooms, we all have to want to be the best. It’s just some unwritten rule that everybody is trying to take everybody’s job — and once you get it, you have to keep it. That’s just the way this business works. So I think we all know that and understand that.
