AFC Notes: Bills, Patriots, Steelers

Bills

Bills GM Brandon Beane was asked about possibly signing free agent WR Dez Bryant to a contract yesterday and he admitted to looking at his tape.

“We’ll look at everything,” said Beane, via BuffaloBills.com. “We have looked at Dez on tape, but I wouldn’t take it any further and I don’t know where that would go. We’re looking to get better at all positions and receiver is one, so if we thought that was the right fit for us we would potentially pursue it.

Beane also left the door open to the possibility that first-round QB Josh Allen could win the starting job this summer.

“We’re not going to rush him,” Beane said, via WKBW.com. “But if he somehow wins the job… he wins it.

Patriots

According to Mike Reiss, the Patriots are projected to head into the 2019 draft with a haul that consists of:

  • First round
  • Second round (via Bears)
  • Second round
  • Third round (via Lions)
  • Third round (projected compensatory pick)
  • Third round (projected comp pick)
  • Fourth round
  • Fifth round
  • Sixth round (projected comp pick)
  • Seventh round
  • Seventh round (via Eagles)
  • Seventh round (projected comp pick)

Steelers

Steelers GM Kevin Colbert mentioned that they had Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph rated with the other top quarterback prospects in this year’s draft.

“He was with the group of the top quarterbacks,” Colbert said, via PennLive.com. “That was a really good position. That’s very unique to the draft. It usually doesn’t come through with a nice group like that. … We haven’t had that much depth at the top of the draft at [quarterback] in a long time. Mason was certainly a part of that group in our opinion.
