AFC Notes: Bills, Ravens, Steelers

Bills

Bills veteran DE Jerry Hughes mentioned during an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio that there has been a “night and day” difference in regards to the team’s culture since HC Sean McDermott arrived in Buffalo.

“Night and day just on how very detail-oriented they are, starting Day One when we walked into the building,” Hughes said. “‘One Eleven’ was on the doors as we walked into our locker room, so you knew from then on that he’s going to be someone who’s going to hold his details high, but at the same time keep you in the same perspective. And that goes the same for Coach Frazier as he’s been instilling the defense in us.

“He’s sitting on some little tidbits that you wouldn’t really think of as a player, but it’s great knowledge to have as we’re putting it down in our notebooks for the spring.

Ravens

Ravens DT Brandon Williams said the team’s defense is “one of the best” and he feels that the team is going to be “really special this year.

The defense that is being built in Baltimore is one of the best – we’re going to do something really special this year, I can feel it. Our defense is amazing,” said Williams, via Gridiron Magazine. “Our defense is amazing. The bar set by our defense is already very high and our goal is to notch it up even more. The defense that helped us win that 2000 Super Bowl is the standard and every year we’re trying to reach and surpass that standard. We’re never satisfied and we always want to get better.

Steelers

There has been talk that Steelers franchise RB Le’Veon Bell could hold out of training camp now that the two sides failed to get a long-term agreement in place before the recent deadline.

However, a staffer who spoke with Albert Breer doesn’t think Bell missing camp would be a big issue for him.

“Even if he doesn’t show up for camp, he’ll be ready to play, no matter what,” one staffer said. “I’m not worried about that. He’s always come in in phenomenal shape.”
