AFC Notes: Broncos, Browns, Chargers, Jets, Titans

Broncos

  • Mike Klis reports that the Broncos have received permission from the Dolphins to interview Marwan Maalouf for their special teams coordinator vacancy.
  • Klis adds that the Broncos also plan to interview Derius Swinton II for special teams coordinator.

Browns

  • The Browns hired DeWayne Walker as their new defensive backs coach on Friday. (Scott Petrak)

Chargers

  • Alex Marvez reports that new Chargers HC Anthony Lynn is keeping Giff Smith (DL coach), Ron Milus (DBs coach) and Chris Harris (assistant DBs coach) on his staff next season.

Jets

  • Ralph Vacchiano of SNY considers re-signing G Brian Winters to be a top priority for the Jets this offseason.
  • Vacchiano lists QB Geno Smith, OT Ben Ijalana and LS Tanner Purdum as players he could see the team considering at the right price.
  • As for the players who are likely gone next year, Vacchiano lists QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, S Antonio Allen, TE Kellen Davis, LB Bruce Carter and OLB Corey Lemonier.
  • Vacchiano can see the Jets tendering restricted offers to C Wes Johnson and CB Marcus Williams.

Titans

  • Paul Kuharsky reports that the Titans are not expected to consider hiring a receivers coach from the pool of guys who were recently fired.
  • Kuharsky says that the Titans were not interested in some of the available options and were denied permission to speak to at least one other coach they would have been interested in, but he was still under contract.
