AFC Notes: Broncos, Chargers, Dolphins

Broncos

Broncos OC Bill Musgrave explained that not having a quarterback competition this year is “paying dividends” for the team, as Case Keenum has been able to get more reps this offseason.

“Case is working hard,” Musgrave said, via DenverBroncos.com. “It’s a new system for him, it’s a new system for everybody. Case is getting — exclusively — all the reps with the ones. We’re not splitting them like you would if you didn’t have an established starter, so he’s getting more concentrated work, and it’s paying dividends.”

Chargers

Regarding the possibility of re-signing veteran free agent TE Antonio Gates, Chargers GM Tom Telesco said Gates would a “natural fit” for the team, but he does not have an update at this time.

Would be a natural fit, right? I saw that Philip voted for it. When it comes to roster moves, we are not a democracy. But we are not a dictatorship either. His vote was noted and accounted for. Antonio’s accomplishments and contributions to this organization are immeasurable. We will see what the future holds. I don’t have an update at this time,” said Telesco, via the Chargers’ official site.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.

Dolphins

Dolphins WRs coach Ben Johnson said that recently signed WR Albert Wilson can line up in the slot, outside receiver, and in the backfield.

When we looked at Albert on film, we were intrigued, obviously with the speed,” said Johnson, via Jackson. “We were intrigued with the run-after-catch ability. I think all of that has been there. It’s been impressive to me to see him come in, pick up this system and learn these fundamentals that he wasn’t really doing the same thing in Kansas City. He’s really done a nice job the past two weeks. It’s really triggered us to say he’s not limited in the slot, he’s not limited outside. He can line up in the backfield. He can do so many different things for us. His versatility is really, really showing up.
