AFC Notes: Broncos, Jaguars, Jets

Broncos

Broncos executive VP John Elway mentioned Saturday that they’ll have a decision regarding their starting quarterback job after Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch play “a couple” of preseason games.

“They are going to keep competing for the job,’’ Elway said, via Mike Klis of 9News. “We’ve been in camp a week and two days. We’ll get into preseason. We have not played a game. So as soon as we play a couple games we’ll evaluate then and a decision will be made.’’

New Broncos RB Stevan Ridley explained that it was a humbling experience to go most of the offseason without a phone call from an NFL team.

“That’s humbling,” Ridley said, via Jeff Legwold of ESPN. “When the phone doesn’t ring, you learn not to take things for granted. Because when it doesn’t ring, you can only work to make the most of a chance and hope you get one.

Ridley added that he isn’t taking anything for granted this summer with the Broncos.

“I know you can’t take anything in this game for granted,” Ridley said. “I don’t think I really did before, but it really hits you when you’re out there. … I’m very thankful to have another shot.

Jaguars

  • The Jaguars announced Sunday that FB Marquez Williams has been removed from PUP after he passed a physical.

Jets

  • Jets WR Quincy Enunwa has a neck injury on Saturday similar to one that held him out during spring workouts. (Rich Cimini)
  • Jets HC Todd Bowles told reporters that he was uncertain as to the severity of the injury.
