AFC Notes: Broncos, Jaguars, Jets, Patriots

Broncos

  • Mike Klis of 9 News reports that the Broncos have scheduled a meeting with Mike McCartney, the agent for QBs Kirk Cousins, Trevor Siemian and Kyle Lauletta, at the Combine this week.
  • The expectation is that the Broncos will put Trevor Siemian on the trade block this offseason. (NFLTR)
  • Troy Renck writes that the Broncos would “love” to sign Cousins and believe they have a “strong chance” of doing so. However, the Vikings’ decision to not franchise Case Keenum slightly decreased the odds of them landing Cousins, according to Renck.
  • Should Denver end up considering options other than Cousins, Renck mentions that the Broncos will have interest in Keenum and A.J. McCarron.
  • According to Renck, Denver is expected to begin determining the trade market for CB Aqib Talib at the Combine.
  • A report from earlier in the day mentioned that the Broncos could be the team to watch for Cousins. (NFLTR)

Jaguars

  • Albert Breer reports that Blake Bortles new contract with the Jaguars includes offset language in in 2019 for the $6.5 million guaranteed he’s owed, which means it would mitigate the cost of Jacksonville moving on from him after one season.

Jets

On Monday, free agent QB Josh McCown reiterated that he would like to re-sign with the Jets this offseason.

“It left on a good note,” McCown said during an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio. “Hopefully, we’ll continue to keep working together. We’ll see how that plays out in the coming weeks.”

According to Rich Cimini, McCown is a fallback option in the event they don’t sign Kirk Cousins.

Patriots

Patriots WR Malcolm Mitchell says he’s “feeling great” after sitting out the entire 2017 season.

“I’m feeling great,” Mitchell said, via ESPN.com. “This offseason will be big. Obviously, I missed all of last season and I won’t shy away from the importance of making sure I’m ready when we start OTAs.
