AFC Notes: Broncos, Jaguars, Texans

Broncos

Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders is well aware of the fact that he’s likely in a year-to-year situation in regards to his contract over the next two years.

Even prior to them signing those young guys, even when I signed the contract … only two years are guaranteed and after that it’s year-to-year,” Sanders said, via Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. “You play long enough and you start understanding these contracts are not guaranteed. And, truthfully, for everybody, including Von Miller, it’s year-to-year, because who knows what might happen? Who knows what situation might play out?

I always play like that, like it’s always year-to-year. I got something to prove this year and if I don’t prove it to the Broncos, then I’ll be proving it to some other team.”

Jaguars

  • Mike Kaye of First Coast News writes that the Jaguars should consider using a late-round pick on Virginia Tech CB Adonis Alexander, even though he could very well be a mid-round selection in this year’s Supplemental draft.
  • Regarding Mississippi State S Brandon Bryant, Kaye believes Jacksonville should pass on drafting him. If Bryant goes undrafted, Kaye says the Jaguars could consider taking a flyer on him.
  • As for Western Michigan CB Sam Beal, Kaye thinks he’d be worth adding after the fourth round or as an undrafted free agent.
  • Oregon State DE/OLB Bright Ugwoegbu is another player Kaye believes Jacksonville can pass on and see if he ends up being available as an undrafted free agent.

Texans

Texans S Andre Hal was, unfortunately, diagnosed with lymphoma last month, but he says he knows how to beat it and will “definitely” do so.

“I know how to beat it, and I’m definitely going to beat it,” Hal said, via the Houston Chronicle. “I’ve got so much support from Houston to Port Allen to Baton Rouge, it feels great to have all these people come and help me out. When you get sick or you get a cold, you’ve got to keep on grinding. You’ve got to grow through it. Nothing lasts forever. Everything is temporary. This is temporary for me.”
