AFC Notes: Broncos, Raiders, Texans

Broncos

The Broncos have officially changed their stadium name to “Broncos Stadium at Mile High” as they search for a long-term naming rights partner.

With the season fast approaching, we’re pleased that the MFSD has approved the temporary name of ‘Broncos Stadium at Mile High,’” Broncos chief commercial officer Mac Freeman, via Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. “While fans will notice some new signage going up around the stadium reflecting this change, we remain completely focused on securing a long-term naming rights partner.”

Raiders

  • Vic Tafur of the Athletic, Raiders WR Martavis Bryant had not been notified of a pending suspension as of Wednesday.
  • According to Tafur, Bryant “did not fail a drug test or miss a test for that matter” despite the report that the Raiders were concerned that a potential suspension could be coming.
  • Tafur adds that he caught wind of a similar report “a couple of months ago” that was killed after there was apparently a “complication” with one of Bryant’s tests that was “cleared up when Bryant visited the NFL offices.”

Texans

Texans HC Bill O’Brien said DE J.J. Watt is “in a good place” regarding his recovery from a broken leg and is “very positive” about Watt’s rehab up to this point.

I feel good about J.J. because J.J. feels good about J.J.,” said O’Brien, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. “He’s in a good place. He’s been here every day. He’s very positive about where he is from a rehab standpoint.”
