AFC Notes: Browns, Colts, Jaguars

Browns

  • Browns HC Hue Jackson said that WR Josh Gordon will not start the season opener against the Steelers, even if he’s 100 percent health. Jackson did, however, say that Gordon would play in the game. (Mary Kay Cabot)
  • Gordon says he’s focused on ensuring he’s ready to go for Week 1: “Yeah, Week 1 regular season. That’s my focus. It is. That’s what I’ve been told to do and that’s what I plan on doing.” (Mary Kay Cabot)
  • Gordon added: “I know I’m going to be here playing football, and anything outside of these walls, I think I have the right people in place to help me in any way in which I need them to help me.

Colts

  • Colts HC Frank Reich told reporters on Monday that QB Andrew Luck missed practice due to “mild” foot injury. However, Reich added that Luck could return tomorrow if he’s doing better in the morning and the expectation is that he will not miss any playing time. (Stephen Holder)
  • Colts LT Anthony Castonzo said he isn’t worried about being ready for Week 1 and believes he’s “really close” to returning. (Zak Keefer)

Jaguars

  • The Jaguars lost WR Marqise Lee for the season with a knee injury. (NFLTR)
  • Jaguars HC Doug Marrone was about the possibility of signing Dez Bryant, but he said they’re “comfortable” with who they have on the roster now. Although, he didn’t close the door on possibly adding a free agent or a waiver claim pickup. (Mike Garafolo)
