AFC Notes: Browns, Colts, Steelers

Browns

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said they respect WR Josh Gordon‘s privacy while he’s away from the team.

“I think it is consistent throughout the organization — [G.M.] John [Dorsey] and [coach] Hue [Jackson] have answered this question, and [co-owner] Dee [Haslam] and I have talked about it a lot == first of all, we are interested in Josh the person,” Haslam said, via Pro Football Talk. “We respect his privacy, and until Josh gets back to camp, we are going to focus on the players that are here.”

Haslam admitted that this is a “difficult situation” but they plan to work to help him get past the issues he’s dealt with.

“This is a difficult situation,” Haslam said. “Josh has clearly struggled with addiction == he would tell you that — over a long period of time. I think that we saw a different Josh Gordon here in the spring and during workouts. He is working hard. We are going to continue to work with the person and try to help him out both personally and professionally until it does not make sense.

Colts

Colts QB Andrew Luck said Sunday that he’s “very happy” with where he is in his return from a shoulder injury and his arm is “responding well” to an increased workload from last week.

Beyond that, Luck says he’s pain-free.

“No pain,” Luck said, via the Indianapolis Star. “Soreness, tiredness, for sure, and stresses are my arm that are different. (There are) stresses, shoot, on everybody’s body at this camp that are different.”

Steelers

  • Steelers ILB Vince Williams is in the final year of a three-year, $6.1 million contract, but he says he hasn’t discussed a new deal with the team or even thought about an extension. Although, Williams did add: “I want to die a Pittsburgh Steeler.” (Gerry Dulac)
