AFC Notes: Browns, Dolphins, Jaguars

Browns

  • According to Steve Doerschuk of the Canton Repository, Patriots OC Josh McDaniels is “enthusiastically interested” in the Browns’ head-coaching vacancy.
  • Doerschuk says that the Browns used back channels to indicate a “mutual preliminary interest,” but they have not invited for an interview. Even so, Doerschuk adds that indications are that McDaniels is a “very serious candidate” for the Browns’ job.

Dolphins

  • Armando Salguero reports that the Dolphins will not interview Saints assistant HC/TEs coach Dan Campbell, who held the interim job after Joe Philbin was fired.
  • Salguero says that Campbell is “highly respected” but apparently not interested in the Dolphins’ job.

Jaguars

Jaguars HC Doug Marrone vows to end the disciplinary issues the team dealt with this past season.

“It’s the foundation [that has to change] and where I have made mistakes and there were cracks in it,” Marrone said, via ESPN.com. “You see things that happened on the field, you know that you’ve spoken about it and it just doesn’t resonate for whatever reason. I have always put that on myself. For me, you know the message that you want to deliver, but you better make sure … I have to do a better job of how I deliver it to make sure that it resonates, and that’s how you build the culture.

“You have to be able to communicate. It’s the most important thing to get jobs done, and I obviously didn’t do a good job communicating.”

  • Jay Glazer expects the Jaguars to blow up their roster this offseason after a really disappointing 2018 season.
