AFC Notes: Browns, Dolphins, Jets

Browns

  • Browns HC Hue Jackson said he expects Gaines to be out for Week 7’s game, but he still feels good about C J.C. Tretter (ankle) being available. (Nate Ulrich)

Dolphins

Dolphins HC Adam Gase said it is possible DE Cameron Wake plays in Week 7, but he will not know his availability until Thursday.

He’s an important piece for the amount of disruption he causes in the passing game,” Gase said, via ProFootballTalk. “Really, it’s going to be more about how he feels the next day. It’s really going to be the determining factor for us of going into Sunday to figure out how he feels. I probably won’t know much until at least [Thursday] to figure out what our chances are of him being able to go. He’s been a guy here that’s been here for a long time. He’s a leader in the locker room. He did a great job of really helping a lot of guys out when he was out. It’ll be nice to get him back if we can.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Wake is nearing a return to the field following knee surgery for a meniscus trim that cleaned out some loose bodies. While a decision hasn’t been made at this time, Rapoport says that Wake’s on the right track to play.
  • Regarding QB Ryan Tannehill, Dolphins HC Adam Gase said doctors have not laid out on a rest plan for him nor specified a certain number of days he should not throw. The good news, however, is that they not looking at surgical options for his shoulder injury at this time. (Barry Jackson)

Jets

Jets QB Sam Darnold said he sustained an elbow injury while tackling Colts S Malik Hooker on an interception return during Week 6, but it is not considered serious.

“It’s nothing crazy. It felt fine today,” said Darnold, via Rich Cimini of ESPN. “Quarterbacks usually don’t make tackles, so that might be part of it.”
