AFC Notes: Chiefs, Colts, Dolphins, Jaguars

Chiefs

  • Howard Balzer reports that the Chiefs brought in free agent S A.J. Howard for a tryout on Monday.

Colts

  • While the Colts tried out some kickers on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo reports that they won’t be signing any of them to contracts at this time.
  • Instead, the Colts are they’re holding out hope K Adam Vinatieri will be ready to go Sunday.
  • Howard Balzer reports that the Colts brought in free agent G Will House for a tryout on Monday.

Dolphins

Dolphins WR DeVante Parker says he had no idea that his agent, James Gould, was going to issue a statement criticizing HC Adam Gase.

“No I don’t. I can’t control what people say. He’s a grown man. He says what he says. I can’t control what he says. I don’t feel that way about coach though,” Parker said, via the Miami Herald.

It did not make anything awkward,” Parker said. “My relationship is good with him. We talked about it. No bad feelings for one another.”

As for potentially trying to force a trade out of Miami, Parker says that isn’t the case.

Jaguars

  • Chris Mortensen reports that the Jaguars still are not trading for a quarterback and this includes Eli Manning, who has been tossed out as a speculative option for Jacksonville.
  • Mortensen adds that the Jaguars believe the debut of newly acquired RB Carlos Hyde and the eventual return of Leonard Fournette will give them the “hammer” running backs they need to help out their quarterbacks, defense and offensive line.
