AFC Notes: Chiefs, Ravens, Titans

Chiefs

Chiefs S Eric Berry, who missed nearly the entire 2017 season due to an Achilles tear, is back and doing his best to help his teammates during OTAs.

“You can make an impact even when you’re not playing,” Berry said, via Chiefs.com. “You can still be in-tune to the game plan and in-tune to the situations that are happening. I have a lot of experience now, this is my ninth year. There are a lot of guys that are younger than me that can learn from what I know.

“So, even with the young guys, I just keep spilling in knowledge to them because I know it’s going to help us as a team.”

Chiefs HC Andy Reid added that Berry has been a big help in offseason workouts.

“It’s great to have him out here [for OTAs],” Reid said. “He’s one of our leaders. It’s great to have him healthy. He’s flying around doing a great job.”

Ravens

Ravens QB Joe Flacco immediately brought up free agent addition WR Michael Crabtree when asked about chemistry with his new receivers.

“(He’s) the guy, because he’s got a little different way that he runs the routes,” Flacco said, per Jamison Hensley. “He’s really crafty with it, and he knows when to break away from guys and how to get open.

Titans

Titans QB Marcus Mariota said he’s feeling good and free after shedding the bulky knee brace he’s worn since his rookie season.

“It might be a different story when the pads roll on, but for now, yeah, I feel comfortable, I feel good. The whole knee brace, it felt restricting,” Mariota said, via Cameron Wolfe of ESPN. “But at the same time, I have to be smart and try to be safe out there. We’ll see, I’m not sure. I haven’t made that decision yet.

  • The Tennessee Titans announced Friday that they’ve promoted Ryan Cowden to Vice President of Player Personnel and Kevin Turks to Assistant Director of Pro Scouting.
  • The Titans also hired Rob Riederer as a scouting assistant.
