AFC Notes: Colts, Broncos, Raiders & Titans

Colts

• Mike Wells of ESPN is unsure of what role second-year WR Donte Moncrief will have in 2015, due to the presence of rookie WR Phillip Dorsett.
• Wells does not expect fourth-round rookie S Clayton Geathers to be a Week 1 starter, but could see him overtaking S Dwight Lowery on the depth chart at some point during the season.
• HC Chuck Pagano provided some encouraging words regarding the possibilities he envisions for Geathers.

“He’s going to be one of those guys that in today’s football you can play inside as a dime (linebacker) and get faster, get more speed on the field and matchup with the tight ends that we’ve got to cover now, the backs out of the backfield and things like that,” Pagano said. “He’s going to contribute, not only on defense, but he should be an outstanding special teamer as well.”

Broncos

Broncos DC Wade Phillips said DT Sylvester Williams has “taken over” the nose tackle spot.

“Sly has been exceptional,” Phillips said, via Andrew Mason of the Broncos official site. “I think he’s really taken over the nose guard position. I think he can play a three-technique, but I think he’s done really well. I’m really pleased with where he is.”

Raiders

• Bill Williamson of ESPN writes that WR Michael Crabtree will be a popular free agent target next offseason if he can prove that his lower-leg injuries have not hindered his explosiveness.
• The Raiders appear “content” with their starting right guard possibilities at this point in time. Right now, J’Marcus Webb appears to be the starter, followed by veteran Khalif Barnes, and rookie fourth-round rookie Jon Feliciano.

Titans

• Paul Kuharsky of ESPN‘s opinion of LB Zach Brown is that he has “looked good” during offseason activities, and he is expected to be a big contributor as a starter.
• In addition to new starters, Kuharsky also expects S Da’Norris Searcy, CB Perrish Cox, and OLB Brian Orakpo to be key players on the Titans’ defense.
• Fourth-round rookie FB Jalston Fowler is the “frontline” fullback on the roster, and should hold down the starting spot barring an injury.
