AFC Notes: Colts, Jaguars, Patriots

Colts

Charley Casserly reported Friday that the Colts are “very confident” that QB Andrew Luck will be ready for training camp this summer.

“There is no question in their mind that he will open training camp throwing the football,” Casserly said. “Right now, they’re being conservative. He’s throwing a weighted ball. That’s where they are right now, but he’s going to start training camp. They’re totally confident in that.

  • Although Colts owner Jim Irsay said there are “still holes” on the team that needs to be fixed, he believes that Indianapolis is a “formidable” team with Luck healthy: “There’s still holes in the roster, still areas we have to strengthen up and we don’t question that, but man oh man, I tell you, we’re a lot better of a football team,” Irsay said, via Mike Wells of ESPN.It’s going to be interesting to see how much better we are. Look, I’ll be honest with you, if Andrew Luck, if he’s healthy and we think he will be, we’re going to have a pretty formidable football team. That’s just the bottom line.”

Jaguars

Patriots

Patriots offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia told reporters on Friday that first-round pick Isaiah Wynn will get a shot to replace Nate Solder at left tackle.

He’s played left tackle in the best conference in America [and] played it pretty good,” Scarnecchia said, via Mike Reiss of ESPN. “We’re going to take a look at it and see how it goes. … We look for three traits — smart, tough and athletic enough to play the position — and he’s got all three. We’ll see if that translates to this level.”

  1. Wynn will start at LT. Patriots use common sense and give the tackles help when needed. They put their players in position to be successful. BTW I’m a Cowboy’s fan. The Cowboys left their backup tackle on an island an entire game on national television and he got embarrassed. They made no adjustments. #commonsense
