AFC Notes: Colts, Steelers, Titans

Colts

Colts HC Frank Reich said that QB Andrew Luck is “real close” to throwing actual NFL footballs.

I’ve never been through what he’s been through. I could sit here and say what I think but it’s gotta come from down in here,” Reich said, pointing to his heart, per Zak Keefer. “There’s an instinct as a player, that you know when you’re ready to go, and you keep testing it and testing it, and you work with the people you’re working [with], and you trust your instinct when you’re ready to go.”

Zak Keefer says that it sounds like Luck will be the dominant voice in determining when he does, in fact, begin throwing once again.

Steelers

The Steelers elected to pick up their fifth-year option on OLB Bud Dupree this offseason (NFLTR) and he says he’s planning to prove that was the right move.

“They see the ceiling that I have,” Dupree said, via ESPN.com. “I feel myself getting better and better each day. I know I’m going to be the best I can be, one of the most talked-about at my position.”

Dupree added that his goal for the 2018 season is to produce double-digit sacks.

I just left double-digit sacks on the field,” Dupree said. “I still can get double-digit sacks even though I’m in coverage a lot. I just have to capitalize on my opportunities. I’ve just got to close the deal.”

Titans

Michael Perrett, the agent for Titans OLB Kevin Dodd, tells Jason Wolf of the Tennessean that his client will attend the team’s mandatory three-day minicamp next week after skipping voluntary workouts.

He’ll be up there for minicamp, and he’s excited for the season,” Perrett said.

Wolf mentions that Titans second-round pick Harold Landry and third-year OLB Aaron Wallace may have the inside track to the Titans backup edge rushers to Brian Orakpo and Derrick Morgan this season.
