AFC Notes: Dolphins, Patriots, Texans

Dolphins

Dolphins HC Adam Gase believes RB Kenyan Drake is “really looking to bust out” for them this season.

“I think we just have a guy that’s really looking to bust out,” Gase said, via the Palm Beach Post.

Gase added that Drake’s versatility could lead to him moving around in an attempt to create offensive mismatches.

“I think we’ve got a guy that can do multiple things,” Gase said. “You could put him in the slot if you wanted to. You can use him in empty, you can use him from the backfield. You just can create a lot of different matchups.

“He has a really good feel for a lot of different types of routes, which there’s a lot of value there, because now linebackers, when they cover him, they’re not really sure what he’s going to do. He’s not tied into one thing or two things.”

Patriots

  • The Boston Globe is reporting that the Patriots are hiring martial arts expert Joe Kim as a pass rushing consultant.
  • Kim is a former member of the U.S. National Taekwondo team, who has worked as a consultant for 10 other NFL teams including the Browns.
  • Patriots HC Bill Belichick actually gave Kim his first job in the NFL with the Browns in 1992.

Texans

Texans HC Bill O’Brien said during an appearance on the NFL Network Monday that QB Deshaun Watson (ACL) is “on schedule” to be in training camp in July.

“He’s doing a good job in his rehab,” O’Brien said, via ESPN.com. “I think he’s on schedule to be able to participate in training camp. We’re excited about that.
