AFC Notes: Jaguars, Jets, Patriots

Jaguars

Former Jaguars first-round pick Dante Fowler Jr says he’s in a “good place” despite an offseason that included the team declining his fifth-year option and a one-game suspension.

I’m in a great place,” Fowler said, via Jacksonville.com. “Physically, I feel really good. My knee is really good. I feel faster than I’ve ever been, more explosive, jump higher than I’ve ever been. This should be a year that I put it all together. That’s how I feel.”

Jets

  • Rich Cimini confirms that the Jets have interest in Raiders DE Khalil Mack and have been quietly monitoring the situation.
  • Cimini mentions that the Raiders likely would have to at least listen to the Jets if they offered them first- and third-round picks for Mack now that New York picked up an additional third-rounder in 2019 from the Teddy Bridgewater trade.
  • Regarding the Bridgewater trade, Jets GM Mike Maccagnan said: “In his time with us, Teddy was the consummate professional, a great teammate, and a tremendous leader. He worked diligently with our medical staff and made tremendous strides along the way. We wish him nothing but success in the future.

Patriots

Patriots HC Bill Belichick says that Trent Brown has done a good job transitioning to left tackle since coming over in a trade with the 49ers.

“Definitely, and he’s done a good job of that,” Belichick said, via Pro Football Talk. “Yeah, there are things that come up every day. There are things coming up in games, as Dante alluded to — for not just him, for everybody, but maybe a little more for him just because of the switch. But, yeah, he’s done a good job with that.”
