AFC Notes: Jaguars, Jets, Raiders

Jaguars

Jaguars veteran DL Calais Campbell says he has no issues doing what he can to help rookies get acclimated to the NFL.

“I had a lot of quality guys that were able to help me out a lot when I was a kid, coming into this game [at] 21, 22 years old, just trying to find my way,” Campbell said, via Mike Kaye of First Coast News. “I think it’s everybody’s duty — if you play this game long enough — it’s your duty to pass down the knowledge you’ve learned to keep the game strong.”

Campbell added that he’s looking forward to working with first-round pick Taven Bryan.

“I always look forward to teaching all the rookies, but it’s nice to have a guy who plays my position, who I can give a lot of my information to,” Campbell said.

Jets

Jets WR Quincy Enunwa (neck) believes he’ll be good to go for the start of OTAs in the coming weeks.

“I think I’ll be able to go,” Enunwa said, via NJ.com. “I think we’ll be smart about it. I think I’m going to go out there and do what I need to do. I’ve been able to run for a long time. It hasn’t really been a hindrance. I don’t have medical knowledge, but I feel like this injury compared to a knee is a little bit easier to come back from. The worst part about it is, if you don’t heal all the way, then hits are bad. But just in terms of physically being able to play, I’ve been able to do that for a while.”

Raiders

Raiders fifth-round DL Maurice Hurst mentioned during an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio that he plans to use his draft fall as motivation moving forward.

“Thirty-one teams didn’t want me and just take that and let it motivate me every game that I play,” Hurst said, via RaidersBeat.com. “Just work and make teams regret that.

Hurst explained that the heart issue that was flagged at the Combine and ultimately led to him dropping to round five was just an irregular heartbeat that he doesn’t believe will be an issue.

“Just an irregular heartbeat,” Hurst said. “I don’t think it’s anything of concern for myself or any other team. So, the Raiders, it’s something we have to get checked up every year and just make sure everything’s good.”
