AFC Notes: Jaguars, Patriots, Ravens

Jaguars

New Jaguars TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins tells Mike Kaye of First Coast News that the free agency process was “pretty chill” for him and he just waited to see how things unfolded.

It was pretty chill,” Seferian-Jenkins said of free agency. “I was just chilling at my apartment in Washington and was just working out and training and playing Call of Duty and then I would just get calls of where I want to go and people who were interested.”

As for signing a multi-year offer with the Jaguars, Seferian-Jenkins explained that he felt it was a great opportunity to join a winning team.

“It was just a really, really good opportunity,” Seferian-Jenkins said. “It’s a winning team, a team that is tough-nosed, physical, has a lot of grit and has a winning culture. It’s a team that’s going up and I really wanted to be a part of that. I wanted to be part of a winning team, I wanted to help build this thing and help them achieve – really everybody’s dream when they play football is to go get a championship.

Patriots

  • TMZ Sports reports that Patriots owner Robert Kraft is next in line to be deposed in the Colin Kaepernick collusion case.
  • So far, Texans owner Bob McNair, Broncos executive VP John Elway, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome and HC John Harbaugh and Seahawks HC Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider have all been questioned in the case.

Ravens

Ravens first-round QB Lamar Jackson said during an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio that being drafted by Baltimore was “overwhelming.”

Before they did (make the pick), I didn’t think I was going to wait that long,” Jackson said. “But I was hoping I was going to get picked. I was looking pretty good, with my grey suit on. The Ravens traded back and I got that phone call. It was overwhelming. I’m just happy to be a Raven right now.”

Jackson added that he’s trying to learn as much as he can from Joe Flacco and Robert Griffin III.

“Coming in humble, just ready to learn as much as I could from Joe Flacco, RGIII,” Jackson said. “It was pretty cool for me, always wanting to be in the NFL as a little kid. To actually put on the Ravens helmet and be coached by John Harbaugh, a Super Bowl-winning coach, it’s just extraordinary for me. I’m just having fun with it. He said I threw the ball very well. I said I can improve a lot more. I’m just ready to get back out there and learn more and do more.”
