AFC Rumors: Broncos, Browns, Jets, Patriots

Broncos

  • Sources have told Troy Renck that the only quarterback prospects the Broncos will take at No. 5 overall is either Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold.
  • The Broncos are clearly a team to watch to move back in round one. (NFLTR)

Browns

  • Mike Lombardi hears that the Browns will trade the No. 4 overall pick, but will only make a deal official when they are on the clock.
  • Lombardi adds that Cleveland doesn’t want to move down too far from No. 4 overall.
  • If the Giants don’t take Darnold at No. 2 and Jets go with Josh Rosen at No. 3, Lance Zierlein of NFL.com mentions that “it will be raining picks in the Browns laps once again.”
  • Chris Mortensen reports that Browns GM John Dorsey has known who he would take at No. 1 overall for “about six weeks” and told ownership “about a month ago.” According to Mortensen, “finally told his head coach Hue Jackson two days ago.” (Will Brinson)

Jets

  • Lance Zierlein of NFL.com reports that the Jets are likely to take to Josh Rosen over Sam Darnold at No. 3 overall.
  • Matt Miller is hearing that some Jets coaches are making a late push for Wyoming QB Josh Allen.
  • According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, general managers around the NFL believe the Jets are going to select UCLA QB Josh Rosen at No. 3 overall after initially expecting them to target Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield: “I think Josh Rosen is the guy that they’re going to zero in on.

Patriots

  • Jeff Howe reports that Arkansas OL Frank Ragnow is an under-the-radar candidate to keep an eye on for the Patriots in round one.
  • Howe notes that Ragnow’s former HC Bret Bielema, who is now working as a consultant for the Patriots, has been leading the way to take him.
