AFC South Notes: Colts, Jaguars, Titans

Colts

Colts HC Frank Reich said he is excited to pair TEs Jack Doyle and Eric Ebron together, while the duo has “looked good” during practice.

“I’m really excited about our tight end group,” Reich said via Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan. “I obviously knew Jack (Doyle). I knew what a good player Jack was. But getting him and (Eric) Ebron together has been good. Then the depth at tight end, the rest of those tight ends, really, I think have looked good. Getting to know those guys who I hadn’t known before, there’s some talent there.”

Jaguars

  • Mike Kaye of First Coast News considers QB Blake Bortles to be the “most irreplaceable” player on the Jaguars’ roster, given the considerable dropoff in skill from backup QB Cody Kessler.
  • On defense, Kaye mentions Jaguars LB Telvin Smith as a player the team could not afford to lose long-term since there is no “clear-cut” backup behind him.
  • Kaye adds that the depth behind Smith and ILB Myles Jack is “largely unknown.” Kaye says that while LB Blair Brown is an “ideal backup” for both players, his opportunity at the SAM position may force him away from backing up Jack and Smith.

Titans

Titans’ second-year CB Adoree Jackson said he hopes to get more opportunities on offense next season and has been pressing HC Mike Vrabel for offensive reps.

I’m hoping so,” Jackson said, via Good Morning Football. “I’m that bug in his ear just trying to make sure I keep being out there if I can. Whatever he needs me to do. Focusing on defense and special teams as in returning, but if he throws me out there I’m going to be excited and fired up.
