AFC South Notes: Jaguars, Texans, Titans

Jaguars

  • According to Jason La Canfora, the Jaguars had “some interest” in Ravens QB Joe Flacco before they agreed to trade him to the Broncos on Wednesday.
  • La Canfora says that Nick Foles remains the “most obvious candidate” to become the Jaguars’ starting quarterback.
  • Jaguars signed K Josh Lambo to a contract extension. (NFLTR)

Texans

  • Dan Graziano points out that former Texans WR Demaryius Thomas is “almost certainly” entitled to $1.2 million of his $14 million salary for 2019 due to the injury protection clause in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • It is worth mentioning that Thomas sustained a season-ending ruptured Achilles in the final week of December.
  • Texans CB Johnathan Joseph said Thomas is a “great player” and hopes the best for him: “It’s a tough business we’re in. He’s a great player… He’ll bounce back.” (Mark Berman)

Titans

Titans S Johnathan Cyprien says he’s “almost 100 percent” and is running and cutting after suffering a torn ACL.

“I am going to come back very strong from this injury, and it is going to be something special,” Cyprien said, via the TitansOnline.com.

Cyprien admitted that the Titans could re-sign S Kenny Vaccaro, who was signed shortly after Cyprien suffered a torn ACL.

“In all reality, there’s a couple of different scenarios that can happen,” Cyprien said. “It could be we’re both on the team together, and I would be more than happy to do that, no problem. Or it could be just myself, or it could just be Kenny. That’s just the reality of this business. That’s not for me to decide, of course.”
