Jaguars CB A.J. Bouye skipped the start of voluntary OTAs last week, but he said Tuesday that he informed the coaching staff that he had some things to address.
“I have respect for all the coaches and all the strength coaches, but I knew what I needed to work on,” Bouye said, via Pro Football Talk. “Stuff that happened at the end of last year kinda motivated me so I just needed extra time to myself and my family to work on that.”
Texans HC Bill O’Brien said that there is “not really” any concern that OLB Jadeveon Clowney will miss time, but he’s not expected to participate in the team’s OTAs after undergoing minor arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
“I think [Clowney is] doing OK with the medical team, trying to get better,” O’Brien said, via ESPN.com. “He’s in the meetings. I think he’s progressing.”
The Titans and Pro Bowl LT Taylor Lewan have yet to discuss a potential contract extension this offseason. However, it doesn’t appear to be a major concern for Lewan at this point in time.
“I understand that this is a business, and so if something gets done here that’s great,” Lewan said, via the Tennessean. “But if not, I understand and that’s how it is. That’s how this game works, so whatever happens, happens.
“If something gets done and both parties are happy, then I think something will get done. If not, then it’s a business. I can’t sit here and say what the future’s going to be. But as of right now, I’m playing on my fifth-year option and I’m going to do my best to make sure that this team is as successful as possible this year, and hopefully continue for this offensive line to take steps forward and try to be the best left tackle I can be.”
Lewan does sound as though he’s open to a new deal with the Titans, but it’s clearly not something he’s worried about as the season approaches.
“This is a business. When it comes to this kind of stuff, that’s the reason why I have an agent,” Lewan said. “I don’t give him three percent to sit on their (backside). I’m being serious. If they want to go and Jon wants to call and they want to have a conversation, they’re more than willing to, but I’m not going to move forward in my life not focusing on football. I think that’s the most important thing. I can’t lose track of what’s actually important, and that’s playing the game.”
