AFC West Notes: Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs

Broncos

  • Mike Klis of 9 News takes a look at the Broncos’ restricted free agents and projects what tenders they’ll receive.
  • Klis expects the Broncos to use second-round restricted tenders on C Matt Paradis and OLB Shaquil Barrett, which will run them $2.9 million.
  • As for WR Bennie Fowler, Klis expects Denver to use an original-round tender worth $1.9 million. The original-round tender would allow the Broncos to match an offer Fowler receives from another team, but they wouldn’t get any draft compensation for him if they declined to match the deal, given that Fowler went undrafted.

Chargers

  • Eric D. Williams thinks the Chargers are looking for a bigger, more powerful back to spell starter Melvin Gordon.
  • One possible option Los Angeles could consider, according to Williams, is Miami RB Mark Walton.
  • As of now, Williams believes the No. 2 receiver job belongs to Tyrell Williams with Travis Benjamin being their No. 3 option.
  • Williams says that 2017 first-round WR Mike Williams has “a lot of work to do” before he’s in the mix for the starting opposite to Keenan Allen.

Chiefs

  • Terez A. Paylor guesses that the Chiefs got second-round value “at best” in their trade with the Rams for CB Marcus Peters.
  • Paylor adds that the Chiefs had been trying to trade Peters for three weeks, but it sounds like teams didn’t know how he’d acclimate to their culture with a looming payday.
