AFC West Notes: Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders

Broncos

Regarding the possibility of trading WR Demaryius Thomas, Broncos HC Vance Joseph said he’s spoken with Thomas a number of times about the situation.

I’ve talked DT probably five times about this subject and he’s been a great pro and he’s continued to work and be a good teammate and he’s trying to help us on Sundays,” Joseph said, per Ryan O’Halloran. “Obviously, being a veteran player, he gets the business side.

Chiefs

Chiefs HC Andy Reid told reporters that as of Monday, they aren’t close on any trades.

“I haven’t talked to [General Manager Brett Veach] today about any of that, so I don’t where he is today,” Reid said, via the Kansas City Star. “Up to today, we didn’t have anything that he was leaning on there, but you never know with him. He doesn’t miss much.

Raiders

  • Raiders HC Jon Gruden admitted Monday that “it will be very difficult” for RB Marshawn Lynch (groin, injured reserve) to return this season, but he isn’t going to close the door. (Michael Gehlken)
  • Gruden said he believes RT T.J. Clemmings is out for the season and will be placed on injured reserve this week with a knee injury. (Michael Gehlken)
  • Regarding the upcoming trade deadline, Gruden said: “I’m not on the phone calling around for trades. You never know who is going to call. You never know who is going to call or what the call will entail, but the deadline is looming and can’t get here soon enough.” (Michael Gehlken)
