AFC West Notes: Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders

Broncos

• Troy Renck asked some sources if the Broncos will add a cornerback this week following the injury to Chris Harris and was told “not necessarily.“
• Renck says that the Broncos loved how Justin Simmons played in nickel and Harris said he plans to return in four weeks after his fracture heals.
• Broncos HC Vance Joseph said Harris will still be able to help out while rehabbing and won’t be placed on injured reserve, as he’s considered to be week-to-week. (Nicki Jhabvala)
• Joseph said LB Brandon Marshall (knee) wanted to return for last weekend’s game but “wasn’t quite ready.” Joseph added: “He called me last night – ‘I’m ready to go, coach.'” (Nicki Jhabvala)
• Broncos signed LB Alexander Johnson to their practice squad. (NFLTR)

Chiefs

Chiefs HC Andy Reid said that no one wins when it comes to the situation involving RB Kareem Hunt.

“I don’t think anybody necessarily wins in this situation,” Reid said, per Brooke Pryor. “I’m hoping and would like Kareem to get help along obviously with everybody that was involved with it. It’s a tough deal. It’s not a win-win situation for anybody, the young lady included.

“My prayers are that everybody involved gets help. Most of all, we’re all in this fraternity of this earth life and we’re all living together.

“My primary objective always is to try to make sure everybody ends up a better person and we can all live together with some kind of continuity and peace.”

Raiders

• Raiders HC Jon Gruden told reporters on Monday that OT Donald Penn is back and working, but he isn’t sure if Penn will be back this season. (Scott Bair)
• Gruden said the same about RB Marshawn Lynch, who is rehabbing on his own.
• According to Gruden, they don’t have any sense when/if WR Martavis Bryant will be back: “I have no sense, common sense or sense on Bryant. Hopefully Martavis Bryant can use some of his plays, because they’re getting stale in my office.” (Scott Bair)
• Raiders claimed OT Denzelle Good off of waivers from the Colts.
• Raiders also waived OL Ian Silberman.
