AFC West Notes: Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders

Broncos

  • Broncos executive VP John Elway said Wednesday during an interview with Orange & Blue 760 that he was “a little bit surprised” to hear that Oregon QB Justin Herbert decided to return for his senior season. (Nicki Jhabvala)
  • Elway did, however, say that Elway: “All it will do is help him and make him a better football player. … As far as what people think of him, it’s not going to go down between his junior and senior year.” (Nicki Jhabvala)
  • Broncos HC Vance Joseph said that RB Phillip Lindsay (wrist) is “most likely” headed to injured reserve in the coming days. (Nicki Jhabvala)
  • According to Joseph, Lindsay will need surgery and is facing a 3-4-month rehab. (Nicki Jhabvala)

Chiefs

  • Chiefs HC Andy Reid said Wednesday that WR Sammy Watkins recently had his walking boot removed and is “making progress,” despite the fact that he won’t play in Week 17. (BJ Kissel)

Raiders

  • Raiders veteran WR Jordy Nelson said Wednesday that he doesn’t want to play forever but plans to be back next year. Although, Nelson added that “it’s not always the player’s decision.” (Scott Bair)
  • The Raiders declined to activate RT Donald Penn from injured reserve on Wednesday, despite designated him to return. (NFLTR)
